The Riley Rally
Saturday 25th June 2022
Trip to Wythall Transport Museum
Format
The trip is arranged with no fixed start time or arrival time. Participants are free to set off and visit whichever points of interest take their fancy so your route will need to be mapped to suit , we are not suggesting that any particular route is followed.
So that we can put on a nice display of our Rileys and for photo opportunities, it would be good if everyone could try and be on site at Wythall sometime between 12.00 and 14.00 hours.
The Museum is focussed on buses and associated ephemera. Trips out on opentop vehicles belonging to the Museum are provided as part of the experience and you will be taken to see Hollywood (no not that one we are afraid).
Points of Interest (Historic Houses)
Packwood House (NT)
Baddesley Clinton (NT)
Kenilworth Castle. This has a display of Armstrong Siddely material (EH)
Charlecote Park (NT) This would be a more southerly route, Wellesbourne Airfield is close by.
Warwick Castle EH members should get discounted entry
Points of Interest (Other)
The flight of locks at Hatton
Kingswood Canal Junction
Earlswood Lakes
Earlswood Craft centre
Hatton Country World
The old St Mary’s Church Building Wythall. (Just outside the Museum)**
PTO
Places for a drink and snacks
The Museum itself
Earlswood Craft Centre
Hatton Locks Cafe
Ambleside Bistro and Garden Centre Earlswood
Hatton Country World
Kenilworth Castle
Navigation information
You will need OS maps no 139 and 151
The museum entrance grid ref is SP07357485. Post code for Sat Nav users is B47 6JA
It is a good idea to avoid the nearby A46 if you can as this is a very fast running & busy dual carriageway.
Prices
Entry to the museum for those arriving in a Riley badged car is £7 for each passenger the driver will get free entry. This is payable at the gate.
Prices for the historic houses will depend on whether or not you are a NT or EH member.
** The building is no longer a church and visits are not possible but you can see it’s unusual tower easily from the road.
